Training for a challange century?

I’ve been cycling distance for a while now, that being said Iive in Oklahoma. This last weekend I climbed a hill that I’ve been eying for months now and although I was sure I was going to fall over I made it to the top. The feeling was greater then I’d ever imagined and I want to try for a mountain terrain type century. Anybody done this and has any stories/advice for me??

Anyway, yep there are some awesome hills (mountains?) in OK. I’ve done some great rides in the Talimena / Clayton / Poteau area, and also around Tenkiller Lake.

There are lots of good guide on “training for a century” – I listed a couple below.

The big factors with OK hills involved are going to be heat, remoteness from stores/rest stops, and the wind. Plus of course, the hills which will really slow down your average speed. Try some shorter rides, say 50 milers to see how you hold up.
